Game Summary

 

It was Sunday hoops in the nations capital where the Canberra Capitals led for the whole game proving to be too strong for Geelong United claiming a 89-69 win. 

 

It seemed to be the Capitals game from the start as they held the lead at every break with Geelong struggling to threaten the margin for the entirety of the match. It was a huge effort from Canberra's starters with 4 of the 5 starters in double figures as they had a variety of threats resulting in a defensive headache for Geelong. 

 

Nyadiew Puoch led the way with 20 points and 6 rebounds, with Chantel Horvat following closely with 19 points and a huge 12 rebounds. An injury to Jade Melbourne in the third didn't rattle the Capitals as they came home strongly with the rest of the team stepping up. 

 

Despite going down, Geelongs' performance was an all round team game with all players scoring with Keely Froling leading the way with 17 points. Daniel Raber was impactful off the bench for Geelong with 13 points.
