24/25 WNBL Season - Round 10

Game Summary

The Townsville Fire with a clutch win over the Southside Flyers as Abbey Ellis scored the game-winning 3 with just 0.01 seconds left of the game. The Fire looked to have been the better side in the first half, but a burst of momentum from the Flyers brought the game down to the wire.

The Flyers were begging for some spark as Naz Hillmon again was crucial for Southside, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Alice Kunek also posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. All momentum seemed to be on the Flyers side in the last quarter but unfortunately was not enough to get them the win.

It was an all-round performance from Townsville, with their starting five all scoring double digits. Captain Courtney Woods was particularly important with 12 points and 10 assists, providing major scoring opportunities for the rest of her team. Alicia Froling was their top scorer with 17 points while Lauren Cox also heavily contributed with 16 points and 4 blocks.

Both teams will look no further than next Saturday the 11th of January, where they have the opportunity to battle it out again, this time in Townsville.
