The urge to say buzz off to being told what to do is generally considered a strong and dependable Australian trait, but it’s possible that sort of thing is not being said terribly much these days. On the Australian’s front page, Paul Garvey’s “exclusive” is a contextual piece illuminating Dr Twiggy Forrester’s editorial in the same paper. (“We’ve vilified China as an ‘enemy’; Anthony Albanese is right to make friends”).
Garvey writes, “the Fortescue chairman offers a stunning defence of Beijing”. He also sings Hosannas about Albo’s tender-touch wooing of Xi and friends, while subtly throwing shade at our former bestie, the US, and not-so subtly bagging ScoMo for souring relations with China.
