Hamish & Andy extend LiSTNR partnership with new long-term deal

By staff writer in Media News on
Hamish & Andy have signed a new long-term contract with Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), ensuring their weekly podcast and Hamish & Andy’s Remembering Project will continue exclusively on the LiSTNR app, Radio Info reported. They’ll also return for the Hit Network’s holiday programming. The comedic duo, who moved from radio to podcasting in 2018, have topped the Triton Australian Podcast Ranker 26 times, cementing their place as audience favourites. SCA CEO John Kelly credited their enduring popularity as a major factor in LiSTNR’s growth, calling them “one of Australia’s most beloved media duos.” Dave Cameron, SCA’s chief content officer, said the new deal will bring more of their “seriously unserious nonsense,” while Hamish & Andy added in signature fashion, “We’re thrilled to continue our heroic missions—from Croc Tour diplomacy to investigating the spelling of Maltesers—backed by the team at LiSTNR.” New episodes will continue to drop ev

Pahalgam aftershock: India responds, but can unity outrun violence?

By Pragadish Kirubakaran, Pradeep Damodaran and Neeraja Gopalakrishnan in Media News on
When emotions run high, the media’s job is to steady the room, not set it ablaze. In moments of national crisis, clarity must outweigh noise. But that was hardly the case today. Rushing to call for war without weighing its human cost is reckless and dehumanising. Balanced, responsible reporting isn’t optional; it’s essential. And as consumers, we must question what we’re fed and hold those shaping the narrative to account. Shouldn’t the media be a compass in conflict, not a matchstick? Hot off the Press The Pahalgam terror attack that left 28 tourists dead has jolted India into decisive, yet non-combative, action. As reported by Bharti Jain for The Times of India and Economic Times' Rahul Tripathi and Neeraj Chauhan for Hindustan Times, five terrorists--three Pakistanis and two Kashmiris--were identified, with the Lashkar-e-Taiba-backed The Resistance Front claiming responsibility. The Centre’s immediate countermeasures are sweeping. The Hindu's Kallol Bhattacherjee,

The Business of Tech podcast continues despite losing co-host

By Will McLennan in Media News on
Peter Griffin, now solo-host of Business Desk NZ’s The Business of Tech podcast, says the format will remain the same following the departure of his former co-host, Ben Moore, from both the podcast and publication after a company restructure.   Griffin told Influencing, “I'm the sole host of it now, but really, it’s the same format. It's 30 to 40 minutes, usually with one guest or sometimes a panel discussion, and it’s focused on getting insights for our audience to get great context on tech-related issues.”  While he can’t replace the unique banter he had on the podcast with Moore, he said he’d be open to co-hosting the podcast again.   “I love being able to riff off someone…At Business Desk NZ, we've got some great senior reporters, including Rebecca Stevenson and Dileepa Fonseka. They are both covering tech in different ways, and I’ll be getting them regularly.  “We call it the Business of Tech, because tech is so integral to business that we need e

Moore is master of his own destiny

By Will McLennan in Media News on
Former Business Desk NZ Technology Editor Ben Moore is setting his sights on a range of contract and freelance opportunities following his departure from the publication due to a company restructure by parent company NZME.  “I’m the master of my own destiny now.” Moore told Influencing, “Earlier this year, I was made aware of the restructuring at the company, and over the next two months, I learnt that my role would cease to exist. None of the available internal roles advertised during that time felt right for my goals and career either.” Moore left Business Desk NZ in early March and noted that, “first and foremost,” he needed to do anything to secure some contract work in the short term.  “In the week since I’ve left Business Desk NZ, it’s been awesome to pick up some contract work with some great clients that I will be working with to do various things, including podcast hosting, editing, copywriting, and editorial writing, and it’s all under the brand
